"I think if you can prove the existence of God it can only be proven through love," Shakira told Elle Magazine. "I even had lost my faith for a while ... it was really hard because I was always so religious."

Shakira goes on to say she wasn't feeling love the way people are meant to. She said she began feeling like there was no God until she met Gerard Pique.

"I started to think there was no God and suddenly I meet Gerard and the Sun comes out," Shakira told Elle.

"[Pique] has his own world and that is one of the healthiest things about the relationship," Shakira dishes. "I know that he is the one person who is with me not because of any interest other than the love that unites us."

The "Hips Don't Lie," singer has had a stretch of bad luck in the past when it came to men. Shakira's former boyfriend Antonio de la Rue was suing the singer back in April for $100 million. Rue claims he built Shakira's image and brand. He said he was the one who came up with her chart topping hits "Hips Don't Lie" and "Waka Waka."

Besides restoring Shakira's faith in God and love Gerard Pique also gave Shakira a son. The couple is raising their child together and Shakira admits to Elle Magazine she still has a lot to learn about being a mom.

"I'm still trying to figure it out," Shakira said. "And I have a feeling I will try to do the same for the rest of my life. Some people put it like it's very idyllic, some people put it like it's a torturing experience, but it's not quite one thing or the other. It's like life, it comes with everything."

Shakira has been balancing the life of a working mom with poise and grace. She has been working as a judge on "The Voice" giving her male counterparts a run for their money.

"I think in general I've treated the boys with mercy," she said.

As far as her next album is concerned, Shakira says she has no idea what is up next for her music career and that's the way she likes it.

"I have no idea of where I want to go musically, but I'm fine that way. I don't need to remain faithful to any one concept, you know."
