The production of “L.A.’s Finest” was halted on Feb. 22 due to an on-set accident that injured two of its showrunners. The upcoming police procedural drama stars Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union, who are also executive producers of the show.

Showrunner Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier were injured when the filming of a stunt went wrong, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The accident happened at 1:30 local time when something happened during a stunt driving sequence, resulting in a vehicle colliding with an object on the set, which led to the injuries of both showrunners.

The filming was done at the adjoining U.S. Water Taxi and Warehouse One and U.S. Water Taxi, Port of Los Angeles. Margolis and Sonnier were later rushed to separate hospitals for the treatment of their injuries. Margolis, who was admitted to the San Pedro Peninsula, was already discharged on Thursday. Sonnier, who was initially rushed to Harbor-UCLA, was later transferred to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

According to Deadline, the stunt vehicle unexpectedly crashed into the video village where the two showrunners were located as they watch the scene. Fortunately, the report said that while their injuries were serious, they were non-life threatening.

The accident was also indirectly confirmed by the Los Angeles Port Police’s Lt. Philip Heem. While he refused to reveal the identity of the injured, he told the publication that “We had two injuries, one being worse than the other.”

As a result of the accident, filming of the police procedural drama was temporarily halted on Friday. It was not yet announced when filming will resume.

“L.A.’s Finest” is a spinoff of the hit movie “Bad Boys II.” The upcoming TV series will star Gabrielle Union as Syd Burnett, who became an LAPD detective bent on taking down a drug cartel in the movie. Meanwhile, Jessica Alba will play the role of Nancy McKenna, a working mom who teams up with Syd.

It was already confirmed that Ryan MacPartlin, Zach Gilford, Ernie Hudson and Duane Martin will also join the series’ cast. The brand new show is slated to premiere by May this year.
