A teen boy from India killed himself after allegedly murdering his mother, brother, and stepfather. The family of four was found dead at their residence in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad on Monday, June 14.

According to police, 18-year-old Rahul reportedly ended his life after killing his stepfather, 48-year-old Virendra Kumar, mother, 45-year-old Meena Devi, and brother, 9-year-old Rohit.

Virendra, Meena, and Rohit were found lying in a pool of blood on the floor with multiple stab wounds while Rahul was found dead on the bed with his throat slit.

The bodies were sent to a medical examiner’s office for an autopsy and forensic experts were deployed to the crime scene to gather evidence.

Investigators retained two knives from the crime scene. Police believe that Rahul used one of the weapons to stab his family and the other to slit his own throat.

Police interrogated the neighbors of the family who told the officers that Rahul and his stepfather often engaged in arguments with each other.

Meena had married Virendra 15 years ago after her husband died of unknown reasons. Authorities suspect that Rahul took the extreme step as he had developed a hatred for his stepfather.

The exact motive behind the slaying is unclear. The case is being investigated, Dhanbad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Asim Vikrant Minz told News 18.

In a similar incident, a mother who murdered five of her six children was sentenced to life imprisonment by a German court on Monday.

28-year-old Christiane K was charged with "malicious murder" after she reportedly fed the children with high doses of drugs during breakfast at their Solingen home in North Rhine-Westphalia on Sept. 3, 2020.

She reportedly murdered her children, aged between one and eight, after a heated exchange of messages with her third husband, the father of four of the six children.

Prosecutors told the court that the mother had mixed a cocktail of three drugs into the children's breakfast drinks and "deliberately brought them into a state of twilight," before killing them in the bath one by one possibly by choking or drowning. The sixth child survived the incident because he was in school at the time.
