One of Leopoldo López' aides has been murdered in a park in Caracas along with the brother-in-law of the mayor of Sucre, a municipality in the Venezuelan capital. Gustavo Giménez is the brother-in-law of Carlos Ocariz, mayor of Sucre and Luis Daniem Gómez grew up with Leopoldo López - both were found dead in a park that separates Caracas from the ocean. The murder seems to have been carried out in connection with the violence that has swept through the country.

"I feel a deep pain in my soul. Gustavo was one of the good ones. When will this sh*tty war end? For the love of God let's stop this war," wrote mayor Ocariz on Twitter. Meanwhile, Ramón Muchado, the mayor of Chacao, where the incident took place, also too to social media to express his condolences: "We deeply regret the murder of Gustavo and Luis Daniel, two honorable, hard-working people, a crime that both families are mourning. Our condolences to Carlos Ocariz and Leopoldo López for the deaths of people very close to them.

Leopoldo López, who led the Venezuelan opposition is currently in jail on charges of inciting violence and unrest in the country. Meanwhile, another round of violent protests in the capital has left four more people injured on Sunday when protesters faced off with police. Ten more people suffered asphyxiation as a result of the tear gas used by the riot police which tried to disperse the protests taking place in El Cafetal in the east of Caracas.
