Episode 8 of “The Following” premieres tonight on Fox and as season 2 progresses more about the history of Joe Carroll will be revealed by none other than Ryan Hardy. In tonight’s all new episode entitled “The Messenger” the search for Joe will have Ryan back tracking through the serial killer’s life before the now infamous Havenport Tragedy. According to the episode synopsis recently released by Fox will have Ryan looking for the man who “originally taught Joe to kill.” The former FBI agent is under impression that if he discovers the man who spawned the monster, he will then be able to finally locate Joe Carroll, and ultimately kill him. Interestingly enough the synopsis promises that Ryan’s search for Joe’s mentor will occur “after a tragic turn of events.” Now that Max is back safely from last week’s dramatic event, fans are curious what exactly could be a tragedy? Could we see the return of Joey, Joe’s young son, in season 2? Or could Mike’s psyche finally break and push him to a seriously violent breaking point?

While this is occurring Joe, Emma and Mandy are navigating their new life with their new and bizarre cult. Still at the compound, Joe is hastily attempting to his bearings with Micah’s dedicated followers. In regards to his followers, Emma who must have survived last week ritual is anxiously waiting with Mandy for Joe to reveal his latest plan. But we are starting to question how many moves Joe can possibly have left under his sleeve? Most of his followers have been rounded up and either killed or imprisoned, so with his cult demolished and his power waning, will Joe be able to navigate his freedom with Lily Grey? We don’t think so!

Tune in to “The Following” episode 8 “The Messenger” tonight at 9pm on Fox or watch it online available via live stream at Fox.com immediately following it’s live television airing.
