The season finale of “Reign” is upon us, and fans are dying to see how CW’s successful new series will end it’s inaugural season, but according to recent spoiler reports fans may not be the only ones who are dying. Yes, that's right, a character from “Reign” will not be making it into to Season 2, because there will be a ton of bloodshed in the Season 1 finale, aptly entitled, “Slaughter of Innocence.”

But considering no one in the scheming court of France is truly innocent, fans are left wondering whose reign will be coming to end. Adelaide Kane, who portrays Mary, Queen of Scots, teased fans by admitting to E! News that, “there’s blood and guts and dying and fights and everything,” featured within episode 22. The actress continued, “Our last couple of episodes have these amazing battles. There’s going to be returning heroes. There’s going to be a couple of deaths; it’s going to happen. We have some really, really big stuff coming up.”

A couple of deaths? Wow, “Reign” is really trimming the fat in the season finale. The order of succession and King Henry’s ailing mental health has put his head on the chopping block for a few episodes now. But could Francis and Mary really eliminate the King of France? They are rulers in their own right, but Henry is still Francis’s father, and he is still the reigning King of France, meaning that despite his mental state he still harnesses a great amount of power.

In a new sneak peek video, Francis and Mary are discussing the best course of action to remove the crown from his father’s head. He admits that an assassination plot is not possible, but not because of his feelings for his father, but because his politically minded father would see the attempt coming. So instead of death, Francis and Mary resolve to remove him from power and imprison him, while also providing him the medical care he needs.

There are a lot of moving parts to this suspenseful Season1 finale, and with the promise of death and bloodshed in “Slaughter of Innocence” fans should prepare to say goodbye to some of their favorite characters. Watch the “Reign” Season 1 finale “Slaughter of Innocence” tonight, Thursday, May 15 on the CW at 9 p.m. or online available via live stream at CWTV.com!
