Why Prince George Was Allowed To Do This But Princes William And Harry Weren’t

Prince George somehow proved how the times might have changed even for the members of the royal family. On his birthday, the future king was able to do one thing that his dad and uncle weren’t able to do as kids.

Growing up, Prince William and Prince Harry were usually photographed wearing a suit and tie. When they were much younger, the royal siblings were always spotted in their collared shirt and shorts.

But on Prince George’s sixth birthday, Kate Middleton released photos of the third in line to the throne via the Kensington Palace Instagram account. In one of the snaps, Prince George is wearing an England football shirt.

While speaking on the “Pod Save The Queen Podcast,” host Ann Gripper said that it was interesting to see the eldest son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wearing the England football shirt. Daily Mirror’s style director, Amber Graafland, added that this isn’t what royal fans are used to seeing.

“It’s from last summer, from the men’s team,” Gripper said about Prince George’s shirt. “Prince William is an Aston Villa supporter, and he is Patron of the FA so he is very involved in football. [George] is a future Prince of Wales though — he can be a fan of both!” she added.

According to royal expert Phil Dampier, it was nice to see Prince George in a football shirt because it portrays him just like any other youngster. Prince William and Kate have been trying their best to give their three children a normal life as much as they can.

In fact, they have not informed Prince George about his future as king. The royal couple is waiting for Prince George to get a little bit older before they tell him what his role is going to be in the future.

“There'll be a time and a place to bring George up and understand how he fits in, in the world,” Prince William told BBC in 2016. “But right now, it's just a case of keeping a secure, stable environment around him and showing as much love as I can as a father,” he added.
