With the 2014 World Cup in Brazil approaching, Mexico boss Miguel Herrera continues to analyze a deep pool of talent before finalizing a roster he hopes will be able to guide El Tri to a deep run in the tournament. Mexico is preparing to make its sixth consecutive appearance in the World Cup and thanks to a rejuvenated attitude implemented with the full-time hiring of Herrera along with a strong showing in their World Cup qualifying playoff victory against New Zealand, El Tri will be viewed as a tough opponent no matter who they play moving forward.

El Piojo was given the reigns of the Mexican National soccer team on a full-time basis in December and he’s continued to look for ways to improve the club ahead of the June 12 tournament start date. While Mexico fans are expecting to see some of the nation’s top talents in Brazil, Herrera will have the tough task of finalizing his 23-man roster due to the fact that a surplus of talent lies at his disposal. Though nothing is finalized, Herrera’s roster is expected to include big name players including current Manchester United star Javier Hernandez, who should land on the El Tri squad in Brazil despite a lack of playing time at Old Trafford this season.

Less than two months away from the summer games, Mexico’s roster will most likely include the following: Jesus Corona, Alfredo Talavera, Diego Reyes, Rafael Marquez, Hector Moreno, Francisco Rodriguez, Miguel Layun, Paul Aguilar, Andres Guardado, Juan Carlos Medina, Carlos Pena, Jose Juan Vazquez, Luis Montes, Hector Herrera, Isaac Brizuela, Oribe Peralta, Javier Hernandez, Raul Jimenez and Alan Pulido. Though he continues to monitor the performances of many player including Giovani dos Santos, Marco Fabian, Miguel Ponce and others, Herrera is expected to bring Chicharito to Brazil. Even though he’s been frustrated this season with Manchester United, El Piojo believes in the 25-year-old’s ability to play on the international level.

“I am worried and I'd like him to be playing more, although he's out of favor,” Herrera said last month about the Premier League season Mexico’s third all-time leading scorer has experience with Manchester United. “Obviously he's in our thoughts and I told him that, but we'll just have to see how it goes. It's not that his form has dropped off or anything, it's just that other players are going to overtake him unless he gets regular games. Chicharito is a player with a great attitude who also shows his character through tremendous discipline.”

Mexico will open its World Cup schedule with a contest against Group A opponent Cameroon on June 13 and Javier Hernandez is expected to appear for El Tri, even if his campaign at Old Trafford hasn’t been one to remember.
