Univision audiences have fallen in love with "Yago" mainly because of Iván Sánchez, but there's also a new face that has captivated the hearts of fans. Francisco Pizaña plays Omar in the series. He is the man betrayed by his friends in a complot that he did not see coming.

Omar is seen in flashbacks as viewers go into the past to find out why Yago is seeking revenge. In the storyline, Omar has a facial transformation and becomes Yago, played by Sánchez. But who is Francisco Pizaña?

Francisco Pizaña is a familiar face if you followed "Señora Acero." In the Telemundo series he played El Tragabalas. "It was weird, because during the taping of 'Señora Acero' I was asked to go to a casting call," he says of how he got the role on "Yago."

"It was in the middle of work and I had to escape to get to the test. Everything came out fine and after a week of wrapping up production of the telenovela I was working on, I was notified that I was part of 'Yago.' It was strange because I didn't know it was for the starring role and as time went by, Carmen Armendariz [producer] said they needed someone six feet tall."

Before doing acting full time, Pizaña was pursuing a career in soccer. "I listened to my heart," he said of changing professional paths.

"I played professional soccer from the age of 15 to 20. I found my path on something that I also love, that is acting. After many hours of thought, I decided that the sport would always be part of my life, even though not on a professional level."

Francisco Pizaña has clear goals as an actor as he says, "The term of 'artist' has been distorted." he adds, "I still believe in the great actors. I don't want to be a star, but a great actor and step by step I try to become better at my job. In the end, all success is built day by day."

"Yago" airs weeknights at 9 p.m./8c on Univision.
