A lottery ticket that reportedly won $1 million in the Mega Millions drawing held on Friday, Jan. 7, was sold in Butler, Pennsylvania.

A customer at Smoker Friendly, 1009B W. Fort Scott Road in Butler, Pennsylvania, bought the winning ticket that matched all five white-ball numbers drawn at the Mega Millions drawing held on Friday, Jan. 7, and reportedly won the $1 million prize, 921 News reported.

The winning five white-ball numbers were 7, 29, 43, 56, and 57.

Meanwhile, May Scheve Reardon, executive director for the Missouri Lottery, advised the winner to sign the back of the winning ticket and keep it in a safe place till he or she claims the prize.

“Congratulations if this is your winning ticket,” Reardon said. “Be sure to sign the back of it right away, and keep it in a safe place until you’re ready to claim your prize.”

The lottery winners can book a prior appointment and claim their lottery prizes at any of the lottery’s four offices, which are located in Kansas City, Jefferson City, Springfield, or St. Louis. The winners have around 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.

Meanwhile, the Mega Millions jackpot has soared to an estimated $300 million after the Friday, Jan. 7th, drawing worth $278 million did not turn up any grand prize winners, Latin Times reported.

The winning numbers for the Mega Millions draw held on Friday were 7, 29, 43, 56, 57, and 6. However, since no player matched all the six numbers in the drawing, the Mega Millions jackpot has swelled to at least $300 million from the previous $278-million grand prize.

The players who participate in the Mega Millions lottery choose six numbers from two separate pools of numbers: five different numbers from 1 to 70 and one number from 1 to 25. In order to win the jackpot, a player has to match all these six numbers with the digits drawn in the drawing.

The Mega Millions jackpot has not had a winner in 23 consecutive drawings. The last time someone won the grand prize was on Oct. 22, 2021, when an Arizona family matched all six numbers in the drawing to claim a $108-million prize.

The next Mega Millions Jackpot drawing will be held on Jan. 11 night. The estimated jackpot is $300 million or a cash option of $206.7 million.
