America faces Santos Laguna tonight in the LIGA MX Quarterfinals! Reuters

Tonight, at 9 p.m. at Estadio Azteca, America faces Santos in the first match of the quarterfinals of the Liga MX. It could be a disadvantage for América, playing the first game at home and closing as the visiting team, although the numbers in the regular season could dictate the total opposite.

The Eagles have not won in the “Coloso de Santa Ursula,” with four losses and 2 draws. They should drop this tendency if they have serious aspirations to advance to the semifinals.

América knows they should get an advantage. They were the second best on the road. For Santos Laguna, to be left out of the semifinals at this point would be very hard for them.

“We have to play an intelligent game against América, not like the one in the League, we have won in humility and of the points is to enter better than the rival. We have to take advantage of the open spaces left by América, I like to be the favorite and I know I have the support of my team and if you want to think big you should thing you are the best,” Caixinha said.

Caixinha also said, “Thinking big is being a champion, we cannot continue to play like we have been playing, it is time and the playoffs are to win, not just to play. Real Madrid played to win and that it what we have to learn from. One thing doesn’t compensate the other with what happened in the Libertadores, we still have to win this series to go for the title of the league.”
