The decapitated body of a newly married woman married for less than four months was found in Texas on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

The body of the victim, Anggy Diaz, a 21-year-old Hispanic woman, was found dismembered and covered in blood without her head missing after her family members called deputies to the couple’s home located in the 200 block of Oak Hollow Boulevard on Wednesday afternoon. Following the discovery, when her husband, Jared Dicus, 21, was interviewed by cops, he confessed to killing his wife, New York Post reported.

“It was a portion of a body, dismembered, and a residence that was covered in blood — a gruesome scene, at best,” Sheriff Troy Guidry of Waller County said.

The couple lived in a cottage behind his parents' house outside of Houston. A knife investigators believe to be the murder weapon was also found at the home, along with Diaz's head.

According to law enforcement officials, there have been prior incidents involving the couple.

'There have been prior calls, disturbance-wise, but nothing to this effect, to this level of violence,' Guidry said.

The woman is believed to be dead since around 11 p.m. the night before her body was found. Dicus' parents told deputies that their son came inside their home and made a statement that prompted them to check the cottage. When they checked the cottage, they found Diaz's body and called 911, Daily Mail reported.

'That's the world we live in today, it's a gruesome scene,' Guidry said. 'Both sides of these families will be altered by it.'

The sheriff added that Diaz is a Nicaraguan citizen.

Officials said that they expect Dicus to be charged with murder.

Just two weeks before the incident, Diaz had posted a picture of herself and her husband on Christmas day to her Instagram profile. In the picture, she wished her friends and family a 'happy merry Christmas.'

'Merry Christmas my beautiful wife,' Dicus responded to the post.

Diaz last posted to Instagram on Tuesday, Jan. 10. She shared a photo of her lunch just hours before investigators believe she was brutally killed by her husband.
