Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made sure to send their birthday wishes to Kate Middleton on her 40th birthday. This has been claimed by royal expert Christopher Andersen.

Andersen told Us Weekly on Tuesday that the royals did a video call. "They wished her a happy birthday. [It was] very private." He also recalled how Harry and Meghan publicly displayed "their affection" for Kate on her 38th birthday in 2020. But, exchanging birthday greetings and other things have changed as between them and the Royal Family and everything was kept private.

According to royal expert Charles Rae, Harry and Meghan, who have been living in Montecito, California since 2020, are believed to have conveyed their wishes to Kate through a Zoom call. However, royal fans still slammed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for not publicly wishing the Duchess of Cambridge a happy birthday.

The Duchess of Cambridge turned 40 on Jan. 9. She reportedly enjoyed a small get-together at Anmer Hall with Prince William and the rest of their family and friends. According to the 72-year-old royal expert, Kate always bakes her own celebration cake, a "holdover" from her mother, Carole Middleton, founder of Party Pieces.

"The queen has a big thing planned for [William] and he is going to throw something as well," Andersen said as William's birthday is just a few months from now, on June 21.

Also, another royal expert Jonathan Sacerdoti previously confirmed that Kate's birthday would be quite scaled back because of the pandemic.

Meghan on the other hand celebrated her 40th birthday by launching her 40X40 program. She asked 40 of her friends to donate 40 minutes of mentorship to women reentering the workforce after the coronavirus pandemic. "I don't think we'll be seeing anything similar from Catherine. I think that we'll be seeing something a lot lower key," Sacerdoti said.

Kensington Palace released three black-and-white portraits of Kate on her birthday that are set to be displayed at England's National Portrait Gallery. She wore her late mother-in-law's Collingwood earrings and a three-strand pearl bracelet. She also honored Queen Elizabeth by wearing her diamond frame earrings while posing in a red Alexander McQueen gown.
