An important message has been unveiled in Mexico City today: Alejandro Soberon Kuri, president of the Inter-American Entertainment Corporation (IEC), officially announced the return of Formula One in Mexico for the seasons 2015-2019. "This afternoon, Mexico rekindles Grand Prix engines in Formula One," were the first words of the Mexican businessman. This will be the first F1 in Mexico in 23 years.

Soberon Kuri, who was accompanied by Claudia Ruiz Massieu, from the Ministry of Tourism, and Dr. Miguel Ángel Mancera, Head of Government of the Distrito Federal, said the return required collaboration of all parties to realize this project. "It is with great enthusiasm and commitment to the team as well as the effort of the Mexican Government and the Government of Mexico City, that the return of Formula One to Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez Mexico City has been made possible."

"My deepest thanks to all of you and your staff for their willingness to listen, and his decision to support this great project. I'm convinced, like you, that Formula One is an excellent vehicle to raise Mexico's name in the world. Likewise, I want to extend a special thanks to two people who played a key role in making the announcement today: Mr. Tavo Hellmund, a friend and advisor of CIE, and Don Jose Abed, a recursor of motorsport in our country and the current Global Vice President of FIA."
