Mother, Daughter Hang Themselves After Latter's Obscene Video Goes Viral On Internet

A mother and her 22-year-old daughter ended their own lives on Wednesday after the girl’s obscene video went viral on the internet.

The heart-wrenching incident happened in the city of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, India.

The girl and her 40-year-old mother were found hanging from a tree outside their house on Wednesday morning. Their identities were not revealed.

According to the police, the mother-daughter-duo was in distress after the girl’s private video with her ex-paramour went viral on the internet.

The girl who was married was being harassed by her ex-lover, Satyam. The man constantly blackmailed her, police said.

"The accused was blackmailing the woman by saying he would tell the husband about their former relationship," Gonda Superindent of Police, Shailesh Pandey, said.

In one such instance, Satyam forced himself on the girl and made a video of the incident. He then began harassing her to leave her husband and come live with him. If she did not then he threatened her that he would show the video to her husband and also release it on social media.

"He also misbehaved with her and forced her to make an obscene video. Thereafter, he started blackmailing her with the video, asking her to live with him," Pandey, said.

The girl however refused to succumb to Satyam’s pressure.

"When the woman refused, he sent the video clip to her husband," he said.

The accused also shared the video on the internet.

The husband, who has not been identified was upset about the video and confronted his wife.

"The incident led to the friction in the relationship between the girl and her husband. The girl and her mother did not come out of their house the whole day on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we saw the duo hanging in their house," a local resident said, The Times of India reported.

It is not clear as to where the girl’s father was when the mother-daughter duo decided to end their lives.

Satyam has been arrested and is facing charges of abetment to suicide. He remains in police custody until his court hearing.

The police have also taken necessary steps to remove the video from the internet.
