A group of Britney Spears fans gathered outside West Hollywood’s City Hall on Jan. 22, demanding the release of the pop princess. Apparently, these fans believe online rumors saying that that the singer might be held against her will when she was checked into a psychiatric facility.

The fans carried “Free Britney,” “Born To Make You Money” and “Truth Will Set Her Free” signs while they gathered in the corner of Santa Monica Blvd and N. Sweetzer Ave. The singer’s loyal supporters are concerned that Britney “is being kept from making decisions on her own behalf.”

Meanwhile, Billboard reported that fans are blaming talent manager Larry Rudolf for putting Britney inside the facility. “Hey ho, Larry Rudolph has got to go,” the protesters shouted, which was live streamed on YouTube.

The singer checked into the psychiatric treatment facility in March for a 30-day program. Britney suffered from emotional distress, which was triggered by her father’s ongoing health issues. She was granted a one-day leave on Easter Sunday to celebrate the holiday with her family.

Early this year, Britney apologized to fans who might have purchased tickets to her “Domination” show in Las Vegas. The singer cited her father’s health and her decision of putting her family first as reasons for the show’s cancelation.

“I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say,” the singer wrote on her social media account. “I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it’s important to always put your family first … and that’s the decision I had to make.”

However, former manager Sam Lutfi is telling a different story. According to a Yahoo report, Lufti is suggesting that Britney’s dad, Jamie Spears, must be replaced as her conservator. Britney’s conservators are now calling the shots and making decisions for the pop star, including financial and career-related ones. Lutfi says that based on Britney’s latest public appearance, she looked “terrified and aberrant.”

“Your actions have instilled fear into her barbaric handler’s minds but this staged performance is unacceptable,” Lufti tweeted today. “She appears terrified and aberrant. Continue to raise hell! Stop at nothing! Hold them accountable! Enough is enough.”
