Social media users have come up with quite the hilarious joke with the "horrific" scene at the coronation of Philip VI in Spain. That is to say, The Shining of Leonor and Sofia. At he event, the daughters of the new Spanish king, princesses Leonor and Sofia seemed to recreate the twins in the classic film The Shining, Stanley Kubrick's horror classic based on the book by Stephen King. "Leonor and Sofia will be the next stars of The Shining part two," said one user on Twitter.

Felipe VI was officially sworn in as Spain’s new King today following a rather low-key and humble proclamation ceremony. Felipe was joined by his wife, Letizia, a former journalist and Princess also received a new title Queen of Spain. The proclamation occurred on Thursday, after King Felipe VI’s 76-year-old father, the former King Juan Carlos I of Spain officially abdicated the throne. The abdication shocked the nation which has had trouble with the continued relevance of the monarchy.

The reign of the Spanish soccer team is also over. Just as in King Juan Carlos signed his abdication, in Brazil, the Spanish soccer team also gave up the crown they earned in South Africa four years ago. Following a devastating 5-1 loss to the Netherlands, the Spanish team couldn't quite recover: in a a truly humiliating defeat, La Roja went down 2-0 to Chile, effectively knocking them out of the World Cup in Brazil. A number of newspapers have made the sad comparison.
