A woman in Texas was arrested on Tuesday after she opened fire in an emergency room after hiding a gun that was in a holster in her torso, before being stopped by an EMT from doing further damage to the hospital and its patients.

Glendar Johnson-Jackson, a 65-year-old elderly woman, was brought to the HCA Healthcare Conroe for a mental health evaluation in the hospital after she reportedly made a ruckus in a nearby local business. She was strapped to the stretcher with her arms and legs secured when she entered the hospital, according to the New York Post.

Johnson-Jackson then somehow was able to grab a small-caliber gun that she had hidden in a waistband-holster tucked in her torso, and began shooting. She was able to let go of two shots before being subdued by an emergency services worker, ABC13 reported.

“One of the HCEC EMS attendants took immediate action and disarmed (Johnson-Jackson),” Conroe Police said in a statement. “(Conroe PD) Chief (Jeff) Christy commends the HCEC EMT that took quick, decisive, and heroic action in disarming Jackson as she discharged the gun. His actions likely saved innocent lives.”

Johnson-Jackson was immediately arrested after receiving medical clearance from the hospital, and she is currently still booked at the county jail. HCA Healthcare responded to the incident with a statement of their own explaining the shooting.

“HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe is aware of an incident that occurred in our emergency department earlier today. There were no injuries sustained. We are committed to high-quality care and maintaining patient and colleague safety. We are required by federal and state laws to safeguard the privacy and confidentiality of our patients,” they said in a statement.

Johnson-Jackson faces the charges of felony deadly conduct and a misdemeanor unlawful carry of a weapon in a prohibited place. It is unclear how she was able to attain a gun in the first place.
