Princess Diana once considered leaving London for good amid Prince William’s urging. However, the Princess of Wales already passed away before she could settle down elsewhere.

In the 2007 documentary “Diana: Last Days Of A Princess,” royal photographer Arthur Edwards detailed an encounter he had with the late royal. Just weeks before she passed away, Princess Diana decided that she already had enough.

In the summer of 1997, Princess Diana vacationed with Prince William and Prince Harry on the beach. Even though the trio looked very happy in their photos, it was revealed that things weren’t always smooth sailing during their trip.

The media hounded the royals while they were vacationing, and this stressed Princess Diana to the core. During one occasion, a tearful Princess Diana strode down the steps and rapidly got into a boat.

“I remember picking up the camera and she said, ‘no pictures,’” Edwards said. “It looked like she wanted to speak to us. She came over and said, ‘why are you here?’ ‘Because you are here ma’am.’ ‘William told me to leave England and go live somewhere else.’ That started getting me a little bit stressed because I thought, ‘I don’t want to be the reason why she’s going to live in exile,’” he added.

But rumors about Princess Diana relocating elsewhere were already swirling even before that summer. One of her former friends, Jemima Khan, said that Princess Diana wanted to marry her Pakistani boyfriend Hasnat Khan and move away with him.

“Diana was madly in love with Hasnat Khan and wanted to marry him, even if that meant living in Pakistan, and that’s one of the reasons why we became friends,” she said. “She wanted to know how hard it had been for me to adapt to life in Pakistan,” she added.

Unfortunately, Princess Diana and Khan’s relationship was short-lived. After their split, the Princess of Wales started dating Dodi Al Fayed. In August 1997, the couple traveled to Paris for a quick vacation. And on the night before Princess Diana’s flight back to London, they decided to hang out outdoors.

On their way back to the hotel, Princess Diana and Al Fayed were killed in a fatal car crash. Princess Diana died on Aug. 31, 1997.
