In what has to be one of the most despicable acts that a person could think of, a woman who reportedly ripped away from the baby from a friend has finally been arrested. The suspect was identified as Mariluz Mosquera who went into hiding in November.

According to reports, the 49-year-old planned the whole thing with vile intentions in mind. It was all part of her scheme to trick her husband’s family into making them believe that she was pregnant. Mosquera posing pregnant meant that the family of her late husband would continue sending her financial support.

The incident occurred on Sept. 8, 2020, when Mosquera set a meeting with the victim identified as Yulexis Valecillos. The young mother was expecting her third child but met with Mosquera and a man named Luis Victoria a week before her due date.

The meeting turned out to be a trap for the 49-year-old to get her baby. Initially, Mosquera said she wanted to give Valecillos some baby clothes for her new baby according to Colombia's Attorney General's Office.

Valecillos was scheduled to go into labor on Sept. 17 or 18. But Mosquera and Victoria allegedly cut her open on Sept. 8, roughly a week before her due date. The 28-year-old mother died from the procedure and her body was discovered on Feb. 15. This was three days before Victoria was apprehended by police.

The body of Valecillos was allegedly dismembered by Victoria after which her body was placed inside plastic bags. He later dumped the remains of the young mother in a lake.

On the same day, Sept. 8, Mosquera showed up at a local hospital seeking medical aid. She claims she had given birth at the time but doctors discovered she was never pregnant, not showing any signs of going into labor. She was later arrested by released by police after authorities discovered the origins of the child.

Police started to hunt down the suspects after her husband reported her missing. The body was not found until several months later. Victoria and Mosquera have been charged with kidnapping and murder.
