When the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela certified Nicolás Maduro the winner of the presidential election, supporters of opposition candidate Henrique Capriles took to the streets. Capriles' call for a recount of the votes was turned down by Tibisay Lucena, the Council head.

Nicolás Maduro won by a margin of 1.6 percent of the votes. Opposition leader Henrique Capriles reported irregularities in the process.

Uhuru Kenyatta, accused of crimes against humanity, is leading in the Kenya election. The votes are being counted amidst the controversy of the discarded "spoiled" ballots over administrative issues.

Election Day is now four days away and the stakes have never been higher.
